Super Senior Pet Adoption Weekend
June 9, 10 and 11

This year there are nine participating shelters and the discounts and promotions will be better than ever! Six of the participating shelters are waiving their adoption fees for qualified senior citizens who adopt senior pets. Most are reducing the adoption fees on senior pets for this one special weekend event. Goodie bags will also be handed out to anyone who adopts an older pet during the event.
Your help is desperately needed to get the word out. We need to get people to the shelters so they can meet and hopefully adopt these wonderful older animals. As always, volunteering with Senior Mutt Match is extremely easy. Look over the list and if you think you can help, send us an email and we will sign you up. (info@seniormuttmatch.com)

Volunteer for the Super Senior Adoption Weekend

We can always use more freebies for goodie bags that will be distributed to anyone who adopts an older pet. Coupons, discounts, two for one specials, products…anything would be great. We want fun things for both pets and their humans. The only thing we can not accept is pet food or treats. Otherwise, the door is wide open. If you have anything to contribute or know a business that might be interested, please let us know.

Help spread the word! Download a flyer from our website, download one and make copies. Visit your local library, grocery store, coffee shop, office building or anywhere that people gather and ask permission to post a flyer. Take flyers to your place of business and post on a community board or leave in the lunchroom. Talk to everyone you know about the event and get them to tell a friend as well.

· Do you have a senior center or senior housing in your city? Stop by and ask to post a flyer. Senior pets are great for any age adopter but there will be extra special offers for senior citizens who adopt senior pets.

· If you have a website, add a link to Senior Mutt Match and the event. Do you have a blog? Write a few words about the event and provide a link. Send an email to your friends and have them pass it along Every little bit helps.

· Senior Mutt Match plans to have a table at one of the North County shelters on Friday, June 9th and a table at the Central shelter on Saturday, June 10th. If you love older dogs and want to tell people about the weekend and encourage them to adopt an older pet, sign up to work the table. Even an hour or two helps.

· If you live down South, SNAP will be taking pictures of adopted senior pets at the Chula Vista Animal Facility on Saturday, June 10th. They need help with their booth which should be a lot of fun. Email us if you are interested and we will give you the details.

· If you are currently a volunteer at one of the participating shelters, contact your Volunteer Coordinator and ask how you can help. Shelters need help with decorating (planning and setting up), showcasing senior pets by walking them around or sitting with them during the event, bathing and grooming the seniors before the event and putting up posters etc.

· If you are not able to participate during the event but would still like to help, monetary donations are always appreciated. Donations allow us to do more to promote events like the Super Senior Pet Adoption Weekend which means more older dogs find homes. Donations can be made directly on our website through PayPal.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please send us an email and let us know. (info@seniormuttmatch.com). As always, we appreciate any help we can get to help find homes for older dogs.

Latest News

It is now official. Senior Mutt Match received its letter from the IRS that states it is an official 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization!! Of course, we were always nonprofit and every penny still goes towards the promotion and marketing of those adorable senior dogs, but this just makes us “official”. The good news is donations are now tax-deductible, so if you are looking to help a great cause and receive a nice tax receipt, you know where to come!

Senior Mutt Match gear is still available at the online Café Press store. You can go there from our website or visit it directly at: http://www.cafepress.com/seniormuttmatch. There are lots of styles and colors available so buy a shirt and wear it during the Super Senior Pet Adoption Weekend to support the cause.

There is a new, easy way to raise money for Senior Mutt Match. Simply use the search engine GoodSearch.com (http://www.goodsearch.com) and enter Senior Mutt Match in the “I’m supporting” box located underneath the search box. Every search you make donates one penny to our cause. Everyone uses a search engine at least ten times a day and those pennies add up! So forget about Google or Dogpile, http://www.goodsearch.com is the way to go.

A warm welcome goes out to the newest rescue groups to join the Senior Mutt Match family. Please give a big woof and a tail wag to: A Passion for Paws, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue and German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. We wish them many happy adoptions! That brings the grand total of animal rescue groups to 45…wow!

DOGS OF THE MONTH

Aren’t we just adorable?
Snickers (right) & Angel (left) are Best Friends who want more than anything to stay together. Their owners dropped the two of them off at the shelter and they are ready for their new forever home. Snickers is a small Shepherd mix and Angel is an American Eskimo. Both are spayed females who are 7 ½ years young. Angel is an adorable little lap dog who loves to be doted on and Snickers is her ever faithful, sweet & easygoing buddy. Both are easy on leash and have plenty of pep in their step; don't let their age fool you. Call Chris @ (760) 717-2942 for more information. They are together in kennel 42 so stop the Carlsbad Animal Shelter on Palomar Airport Road and meet them today.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion" – Unknown
